The European Commission strongly recommends that EU countries refuse Russia multiple-entry visas

The instructions on the EC website say that the European Commission recommended that EU member countries not issue multiple-entry visas with a long validity period to Russians.

“Member States should refrain from issuing multiple-entry visas with a long validity period, as Russian citizens may no longer meet the conditions for entry into the EU territory in the long term, given economic instability, restrictive measures and political developments,” the document says.

The EC believes that the best option would be to issue single-entry visas with a shorter validity period.

“Priority, as previously reported, will be given to family members of EU citizens, journalists, dissidents, representatives of civil society, scientists,” the instructions specify.
