China and the United States have extensive common interests and broad space for cooperation, they can become partners and friends, Chinese President Xi Jinping said.

Earlier, the head of the People’s Republic of China sent greeting cards in honor of the upcoming Spring Festival, also known as Chinese New Year, to “friends from Iowa.” In his congratulations, Xi Jinping noted that 40 years ago he visited the US state of Iowa, where he received a warm welcome, which is still fresh in his memory.

“China and the United States have broad common interests and broad space for cooperation, they can become partners and friends, together achieve mutual success and prosperity for the benefit of both countries, bringing benefits to the whole world,” the text of the congratulations said.

Citizens of China and the United States will interact more, jointly continue the history of friendship between the two peoples, and make new contributions to the development of China-US relations.

Chunjie, or Spring Festival, will occur on the night of January 29th. According to the eastern calendar, the Year of the Wooden Snake will begin, which will last until February 16, 2026.

Earlier, a delegation from the state of Iowa, which included, in particular, teachers and students, visited China. During the trip, they jointly sent a New Year’s card to Xi Jinping.
