Japanese companies did not want to build factories in the United States under Biden, Ishiba said

Japanese Prime Minister Shigeru Ishiba said live on NHK that when Joe Biden was president of the United States, Japanese automakers did not seek to open factories in the United States, but now the situation has changed.

Isiba paid a visit to the United States, where on February 7 he had his first face-to-face meeting with American leader Donald Trump. The Prime Minister of Japan became the second head of state with whom the President of the United States met after the inauguration. Following the meeting, a joint statement was adopted. Ishiba returned to Japan on Saturday evening.

“As for this (the creation of jobs in America by the Japanese auto industry), I am sure that there is something, but the president has managed to understand this. Several manufacturers under Biden did not grow (in the United States), of course, they invested, but when Trump came, various Japanese automakers announced that they would create a factory here and there. That’s how many jobs will be created. That is, from Trump’s point of view, it’s all directly related to the restoration of the US industry and job creation,” Isiba said.
