Congress called for the repeal of the decree on the suspension of US aid to other countries.

Congress called for the repeal of the decree on the suspension of US aid to other countries.

A number of Democratic congressmen appealed to US Secretary of State Marco Rubio with a call to cancel the decree on the suspension of aid to other countries, adopted by the country’s President Donald Trump at the beginning of the week, follows from a letter from the congressmen.

Earlier, Trump signed an order to suspend for 90 days the provision of development assistance to other countries to assess the compliance of the programs with US foreign policy.

“We urge you to immediately restore funding to existing U.S. foreign assistance programs so we can continue to meet our obligations and save lives,” the House Foreign Affairs Committee Democrats said in a letter posted on their website.

Congressmen point out that for the United States, foreign aid is a “strategic investment” that is consistent with the country’s national interests and ensures the survival of residents of many countries that depend on aid supplies.
