The US Senate confirmed Pete Hegseth as head of the Pentagon.

The candidacy passed with the minimum required margin, according to the voting results. The seats in the new upper house of Congress are divided 53 to 47 in favor of the Republicans, but the nominee Donald Trump was not supported by all party representatives, which required the intervention of Vice President J.D. Vance as chairman of the legislative body.


At the moment, Mark Rubio, appointed US Secretary of State, and John Ratcliffe, who became the new director of the CIA, have already received full Senate approval.


Hegseth has previously faced allegations of alcohol abuse and inappropriate behavior at work events. He himself calls these accusations “anonymous and false.
