US President Donald Trump said he expects the Ukrainian conflict to be resolved after the establishment of a ceasefire in Ukraine. “We are all working to end this. It’s crazy for nothing. I think there is a chance to achieve this. Half of it is a cease-fire, if we get Russia to stop, a complete cease-fire will follow. The United States has refused to subsidize NATO allies who are not spending money on defense

The United States has refused to subsidize NATO allies who are not spending money on defense

Some US NATO allies barely have armed forces, Washington cannot continue to subsidize them, US Secretary of State Marco Rubio said.

“The only thing that puts NATO at risk is the fact that we have allies who barely have armed forces or whose military is not very effective because they have spent 40 years without spending any money on it,” he said.

Rubio expressed dissatisfaction with the fact that we are talking about rich countries, especially in Western Europe. According to the Secretary of State, they have sufficient resources and should invest them in national security.

“But they don’t do that. Countries spend one and a half or one percent of their economies. We simply cannot continue to subsidize it. This is unfair and unstable,” the head of the State Department stressed.

Earlier, Donald Trump criticized Europe for its low contribution to NATO’s defense capability and demanded that all member countries increase defense spending to five percent of GDP. At the same time, the head of the Pentagon, Pete Hegseth, assured that the United States does not plan to reduce its military presence in Europe yet.
