The Argentine authorities have created a fund for the flood-stricken city

Argentine President Javier Miley has ordered the creation of a fund in the amount of 200 billion pesos (about $ 200 million) to help the flood-stricken city of Bahia Blanca, the press service of the head of state reported.

“President Javier Miley visited the city of Bahia Blanca and stated the extent of the damage caused by the hurricane, he instructed to create a special fund of 200 billion pesos to provide assistance to the victims directly, without intermediaries,” the statement said.

This fund will be managed by the Federal Emergency Management Agency.

The flood, which caused a major tourist and port city to actually go under water, was caused by heavy rains: the average annual rainfall fell in one day. Roads were destroyed, houses and cars were flooded, communications were disrupted in the city, and electricity was cut off. The federal authorities have sent additional forces to the city to deal with the consequences of the disaster.

As a result of the flood, 16 people died. Rescuers are searching for two little sisters who were swept away by a strong stream of water when they and their parents were trying to move by car to another city that was not affected by the flood.
