The head of the US Department of Commerce admitted the possibility of a slowdown in economic growth in the country

US Secretary of Commerce Gina Raimondo admitted the risks of further slowdown in the US economy.

“Our economy over the past 1-1.5 years has grown at an unprecedented high rate – at the level of 5-6%. In my opinion, we should not expect the same growth rates,” she said.

At the same time, Raimondo said that she could not predict a “serious recession” in the United States economy.

She referred to the experience of communicating with representatives of American business, which suggests that the risks of developing such a scenario are extremely low.

“The foundation of our economy is very strong. Inflation is our problem, but it is also our key priority. Therefore, in my opinion, we should not talk about the fact that a recession is approaching, ”she concluded.

Earlier, IMF Managing Director Kristalina Georgieva said that, according to the fund, it will be increasingly difficult to avoid a recession in the United States.

IMF specialists also expressed the opinion that the United States needs to resolve disagreements with trading partners and cancel the restrictive duties introduced in recent years.
