The United States Agency for International Development (USAID) has always served as a cover for undermining the constitutional order in Cuba. Over the years, it has allocated 66 million US dollars for activities against the Cuban people, Cuban Foreign Minister Bruno Rodriguez Parrilla said.

“USAID has always been a cover for undermining the constitutional order in Cuba. Between 1998 and 1999, it spent more than $6 million on hundreds of illegal operations. From 2001 to 2006, 61 million US dollars were allocated for 142 illegal projects and activities directed against the Cuban people,” Minister Rodriguez wrote in his telegram channel.

U.S. Secretary of State Marco Rubio, who was appointed acting head of USAID by President Donald Trump, earlier said that the authorities were going to check the agency “from top to bottom” to determine whether program financing corresponded to the international policy of the current administration, since USAID spent money “to the detriment” of the United States. According to him, after the reassessment, in some cases the assistance will be unfrozen or increased.

The US Agency for International Development previously announced that its directly employed staff around the world, with a number of exceptions, will be placed on administrative leave. The CBS television channel, citing sources, previously reported that all USAID foreign offices were ordered to close, and all their staff would be recalled.
