Turkey launches gas pipelines into the Black Sea

Turkey is lowering the first pipe into the sea, through which natural gas from the Sakarya field in the Black Sea will be delivered to land, Prime reports citing the country’s Minister of Energy and Natural Resources Fatih Donmez.

“We are ready? Only a few hours left. The first pipe, through which the Black Sea natural gas will be delivered to land, descends into the sea,” he wrote on his social networks.

It should be noted that the length of the offshore part of the gas pipeline will be 155 kilometers. According to plans, the first gas from the field should come to Turkey in 2023.

According to Ankara, natural gas reserves in the Black Sea will be enough to cover the world’s needs for 45 years. Recall that the discovery of large gas reserves was announced in 2020. A year later, another deposit was found – “Amasra-1”.
