Ship transit through Turkey’s Bosphorus Strait has been suspended in both directions due to thick fog, the Turkish Transport Ministry said on Monday.

“Transit of ships through M is suspended in both directions due to limited visibility due to fog,” the department said in a statement.

The Coast Guard said at least 70 ships are waiting to pass through the strait.

Flights of passenger ferries on at least seven routes have also been cancelled, Şehir Hatları clarified.
