The head of the inter-party group of members of the Japanese parliament – the Japan-Korea Parliamentary Union, former Prime Minister of Japan Yoshihide Suga canceled his visit to South Korea due to the previously announced martial law.

The visit was planned for mid-December.

Earlier, Japanese Prime Minister Shigeru Ishiba said that Japan was closely monitoring the situation in South Korea, where martial law was declared at night and lifted a few hours later. It was also reported that the situation in South Korea could affect the Prime Minister’s plans to visit the country in January next year.
