The Chinese Foreign Ministry commented on Trump’s tariffs.

China always takes into account its economic interests, Chinese Foreign Ministry spokeswoman Mao Ning said at a press conference, speaking out against US President Donald Trump and introducing new tariffs against China.

US President Donald Trump previously approved the introduction of new tariffs against China from February 1, linking this to the smuggling of the synthetic opioid fentanyl, which is awaiting shipment from China to Mexico and Canada.

“China always respects the interests of Chinese independence,” Mao Ning said, adding that “there are no winners in tariff wars.”

Earlier, Liu Pengyu, spokesman for the Chinese Embassy in Washington, said that China is strictly fighting drugs and is providing support to the United States to resolve fentanyl-related problems. According to him, the White House has previously recognized such cooperation, as well as the measure that China has provided in the framework of the action of phenyl stanyl in the United States.
