Parliamentary elections have begun in Romania.

Polling stations for voting in the Romanian parliamentary elections have opened in all localities; on Sunday, residents of the country elect deputies and senators for four years. 


In Romania, parliamentary elections are held on Sunday; once every four years, residents of the country elect deputies and members of the Senate. There is no turnout threshold in the country; elections will be recognized as valid with any number of participants.

At 7.00 almost 19 thousand polling stations across Romania began operating. They will close at 21.00.

About 10 thousand people are running for the positions of deputies and senators, but only 456 will get into parliament. The permanent electoral body of Romania allowed 50 blocs and parties to participate in the elections. To get into parliament, parties need to overcome the electoral threshold of 5%, blocs of two parties – 8%, blocs of three parties – 9%, blocs of four or more parties – 10%.
