Barack Obama gained a “title” of the most admired man in the world and outran Donald Trump by 7 points in this rating.
These are numbers from the Gallup poll that was taken among American citizens on 7-11 December. Obama got 22%, while Donald Trump earned 15% and came in second. Both former and coming presidents were far more admirable than such famous persons as Pope Francis (4%), Bill Gates, Bill Clinton or Joe Biden (1% each). Participants also appreciated Obama better than friends that got 8%.
It was Obama’s best result in polls since 2012; 50% of Democrats named Obama as their most admired, while only 34% cent of Republicans chose Donald Trump.
Michele Obama also appeared on top positions of Americans’ ratings. In the Gallup poll she was admired by 8% of respondents. The result granted Mrs. Obama second place in the rating; the first was occupied by Hillary Clinton with her 12%. Both wives of former presidents overran other famous women, including Oprah Winfrey and Angela Markel.
Clinton became world’s most admired woman for the 15th consecutive year. However, she achieved this title with the lowest percentage this time.
The poll was conducted among a random sample of 1,028 adults aged 18 and over, living in all 50 states and the District of Columbia.
Barack Obama and Dwight Eisenhower in 1952 were the only presidents-elect to earn the distinctions.

Obama became American President in 2009 when he was 47 years old. Now the man is 55; he is younger than main participants of recent elections Clinton and Trump. Their active lives show 55 isn’t the end, but the chronological set of photos demonstrates the presidency affected Obama’s appearance. His look can support conclusions of some studies that suggest responsible government jobs accelerate aging.
The former President had dark hair and smooth skin when he started to fulfill his duties. While face’s appearance depends up light and other factors, nobody will argue Obama became gray during his presidency.
There is the opposite situation with Michele Obama. The First Lady – who has developed a reputation for her fitness – has become something of a fashion icon and is now revered for her clothing and beauty choices.
At this point she looks like she has the energy for a third term – while her husband frankly looks like he needs a well-earned rest.
