Italian Prime Minister Giorgia Meloni met with US President-elect Donald Trump at his Mar-a-Lago residence in Florida.
⠀
Trump and Meloni attended the film screening together.
⠀
“It’s very exciting, I’m here with a fantastic woman, the Prime Minister of Italy. She’s really taken Europe and everyone else by storm, and we’re just having dinner tonight,” Trump said of Meloni.
⠀
Sen. Marco Rubio, Trump’s nominee to be the next US secretary of state, called Meloni “a great ally and a strong leader.”
⠀
As the agency notes, after winning the US presidential election, Trump has already been visited by Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau, Argentine President Javier Miley and Hungarian Prime Minister Viktor Orban.

Current US President Joe Biden will travel to Italy in January; he will visit Rome from January 9 to 12. Biden’s term as president ends on January 20, so the trip will be his last in this capacity.
