A wildfire has broken out at a popular Turkish resort.

The forest fire started on Friday in the Turkish resort of Marmaris in the province of Muğla, according to the Turkish Forestry Authority.

“We started extinguishing the forest fire in Marmaris within five minutes,” the press release said.


Five planes, four helicopters and 20 fire trucks are involved in extinguishing the fire. Video footage circulating on social media shows a forest on fire in close proximity to residential buildings in Marmaris.

 


Also on Friday, a forest fire broke out in the Kas resort in Antalya, but the fire was extinguished within an hour, trees were damaged on an area of ​​about one hectare.
