Trump called the trial in his case a circus.

US President-elect Donald Trump called Friday’s court hearing in his case a “disgusting circus,” confirmed his intention to file an appeal and said the decision to exonerate him underscored that the case had no evidence but was “criminal election interference.”

Earlier on Friday, a court in New York sentenced Trump to “unconditional release” in the case of forgery of documents by the Trump Organization in the payment of money to former porn actress Stormy Daniels, formally clearing him of responsibility and upholding only a formal conviction.

“Radical Democrats have lost another pathetic un-American witch hunt… the result itself confirms that… there is not and never was a real case… today’s event was a disgusting circus and now that it is over we will appeal absurd,” Trump wrote on his Truth Social account.

Trump’s lawyer Todd Blanche said Friday that the president-elect’s team will appeal the politician’s “unconditional release” sentence in a forgery case.

“Unconditional release” means that the conviction will remain in force, but the case itself will be dismissed without imposition of punishment, that is, Trump will not face any prison or fine. In this situation, Trump will become the first president to be convicted, albeit “unconditionally released.”
