The Turkish Embassy in Syria has resumed work.

The Turkish Embassy in Syria has resumed work, and the country’s flag is flown over the diplomatic mission, the Star newspaper reports.

Turkish Foreign Minister Hakan Fidan previously announced the intention of the diplomatic mission to begin work on Saturday, clarifying that a Turkish delegation of diplomats had already been sent to Damascus. CNN Türk TV channel, in turn, clarified that the Turkish Embassy in Damascus, located next to Ravda Square, ceased daily activities on March 26, 2012. With this decision, the embassy employees and their families returned to Turkey. At the same time, the Syrian Consulate General in Istanbul continued to operate.

Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan confirmed that the country’s embassy in Syria will resume operations on Saturday.

“Today we are resuming the activities of our embassy in Damascus,” the Turkish leader said, speaking in Erzurum.
