Polish environmental activists announced the largest blockade of Warsaw in history.

Polish environmental activists from the Last Generation organization are threatening to carry out the “largest ever” blockade of Warsaw.

On Wednesday, Last Generation activists wanted to meet with Polish Prime Minister Donald Tusk, but he did not accept their offer.

“Since the prime minister does not reach out to citizens, they take to the streets,” the organization said in a statement issued on Thursday.

It is clarified that the “Last Generation” plans to block one of the largest transport arteries in Warsaw, the Wislostrada, on Friday at 13.00.

Activists of the “Last Generation” movement had previously blocked Wislostrada and other streets of the Polish capital. They justify their actions by the need to draw attention to the problems of climate and transport isolation. Members are calling for a significant increase in investment in rail and public transport, with 100% of new highway funds transferred to regional and local rail and bus services from 2025.

Earlier, Polish Prime Minister Donald Tusk said that he called on services to respond decisively to cases of road blocking. According to him, such actions pose a danger to the state and all road users.
