The turnout in the presidential elections in Moldova by 08:30 was 2.38%, according to the website of the Central Election Commission.

Presidential elections are being held in Moldova on Sunday; the head of the republic is being elected for a four-year term. Also on this day, a referendum is held, within which citizens must answer the question: “Do you support changing the Constitution in order for the Republic of Moldova to join the European Union?” For both events to be considered valid, the turnout for each of them must exceed 33.3%. Polling stations will close at 21.00.

As of 08.30, more than 65 thousand people managed to take part in voting in Moldova – this is 2.38% of voters. By this time, about 5.6 thousand people had taken part in the elections in foreign polling stations.

There are 11 candidates vying for the presidency. The main struggle is between President Maia Sandu, who is running for a second term, former Prosecutor General Alexander Stoianoglo and Our Party leader Renato Usatii. If none of the candidates can get more than 50% of the votes in the first round, then the second round of elections will take place on November 3.
