There was another blackout in Cuba.

Cuba’s power supply system has failed again.

“The electricity company reported that at 6:15 a.m. today there was another complete blackout of the country’s electricity system,” a local media report said.

As the Ministry of Energy and Mining of Cuba reported on Friday, the failure of the Antonio Gutierrez thermal power plant in Matanzas led to a complete shutdown of the country’s energy system.

According to the latest data from the department, partial generation is now coming from the Energas power plant, and work is also underway to launch a thermal power plant. In addition, it was possible to restore power supply in the local networks of the provinces of Villa Clara, Holguin, Granma and Guantanamo.

On Thursday, Cuban President Miguel Diaz-Canel Bermudez instructed Prime Minister Manuel Marrero Cruz to inform residents of the energy emergency the country is experiencing. He pointed out that its main reason was the strengthening of US sanctions against the island, making it difficult to import fuel and other necessary resources.
