Britain called for the publication of election results in Venezuela.

Britain called for the publication of election results in Venezuela.

The UK is concerned about allegations of possible irregularities in the Venezuelan presidential election and is calling for the full results of the vote to be published, the British Foreign Office said on social media X on Monday.

The Chairman of the National Electoral Council of Venezuela, Elvis Amoroso, previously reported that based on the results of processing 80% of the protocols, the current head of state, Nicolas Maduro, gains 51.2% of the votes and wins the presidential election.

“We are concerned by reports of serious irregularities in the counting of votes and in the announced results of the presidential election in Venezuela on Sunday. We call for the rapid and transparent publication of full, detailed results to ensure that the outcome reflects the voices of the people of Venezuela,” the department said in a statement.

Earlier, Colombia and Spain called for an independent counting and verification of votes in Venezuela’s elections. The head of EU diplomacy, Josep Borrell, in turn, called for respect for the voting results and stated the importance of full transparency of the electoral process.

The United States also expressed concern that the published election results “do not reflect the will and voices” of the people of the country. The head of the Chilean Foreign Ministry said that the country will refrain from recognizing the results of the elections in Venezuela until the conclusions of international observers. The authorities of Peru, Costa Rica and Argentina also refused to recognize Maduro’s victory in the presidential elections.
