Macron has appointed a new chief of staff of the French Navy.

French President Emmanuel Macron has appointed a new head of the French naval headquarters, according to a document published on the website of the Official Journal of the French Republic.

“The President of the Republic, in accordance with the report of the Prime Minister and the Minister of the Armed Forces, taking into account the Constitution, in particular Article 13, having heard the Council of Ministers, decides … to appoint Mr. Vice-Admiral of the Squadron Nicolas Vaugourt as the head of the headquarters of the naval forces, starting from September 1, 2023,” the text says.

In this post, he will replace Pierre Vandier, who, by the same decree, was appointed Deputy Chief of the General Staff of the French Armed Forces.

On Thursday, the French president carried out a major government reshuffle, keeping key ministers in their posts and replacing the heads of the ministries of education and health, as well as the minister for solidarity and the family. In total, eight new members appeared in the Cabinet, including secretaries of state and ministers-delegates.
