The recent shootings in San Bernardino, California, shook up the country and brought up the problem of gun control laws, considered one of the main cause that made this attack possible.
Like expected, a lot of Presidential candidates reacted to this, some of them putting the blame on President Barack Obama‘s administration, which was supposed to prevent such situations, considered even by the FBI as a terrorist attack.
Marco Rubio wants phone data to be collected it used to be
Senator Marco Rubio, for example, was one of the first to criticize Barack Obama, accusing him of weakening the U.S. intelligence community’s ability to gather data that could help prevent terrorist attacks, according to The Hill.
Rubio, well know for sustaining his point that phone data should still be collected, cited a report that said the phone records of the San Bernardino assailants only extend two years, so it’s difficult to figure out how they planned the attack or it they were assisted.
“I hope the president will work with us to reverse that so that the intelligence agencies have access to the full picture. He’s also issued a series of presidential directives that have weakened our ability to gather intelligence against potential adversaries, so I hope that will be changed as well,” he added.
Trump wants the President to do something about this
Of course, Donald Trump couldn’t keep quiet, making some statements about this situation and President Barack Obama during a rally in Davenport, Iowa. The Republican claims that the country’s current problems with radical Islamic terrorism won’t be solved until Barack Obama “gets the hell out” of office.
“Until he admits that this is a problem, we’re never gonna solve the problem,” Trump said during the “Face the Nation” show on CBS. “But he’s only gonna be there, fortunately, a little bit more than a year. Because the problem will get solved when he gets the hell out.”
Muslims are treated too correct, according to Trump
Well known for his ideas of creating a register for Muslims, Trump supported the idea of profiling in order to stop terrorism, according to Politico. He considers that people are too politically correct with Muslims in the U.S., when they don’t respond to red flags.
“I think there can be profiling,” Trump said. “If they thought there was something wrong with that group and they saw what was happening, and they didn’t want to call the police because they didn’t want to be profiling, I think that’s pretty bad. People are dead. A lot of people are dead right now. So everybody wants to be politically correct, and that’s part of the problem that we have with our country,” Donald Trump said.
Until now, President Barack Obama hasn’t responded to any of these comments, but it’s very curious to see if he will make an official declaration regarding them.
