Harvard President Alan Gerber said that without the support of the US government, important research will be at risk.
⠀
“If this funding is cut off, it will stop vital research and jeopardize innovation,” the Harvard president emphasized.
⠀
As Gerber stated in a letter in an internal university newsletter, he is aware of the actions of the US government, which is reviewing the university’s funding for $ 9 billion, which threatens to cut programs at the university, hospitals and other institutions.
⠀
“There’s a lot at stake,” Gerber said.
⠀
“The government has informed us that it is reviewing funding because it is concerned about the university’s failure to meet its obligations to deter and combat anti-Semitism,” the letter says.
⠀
Gerber stressed that he supports the ideas of combating anti-Semitism, and Harvard has put a lot of effort into this work over the past 15 months.

The White House had previously demanded that American universities ensure the protection of Jewish students, threatening to cut funding. Anti-Israeli actions are taking place in American universities in connection with the escalation of the Middle East conflict.
In March, Israel resumed fighting in the Gaza Strip after an almost two-month ceasefire. Top officials of the Jewish state explained the need to resume the war by saying that the Palestinian Hamas movement refused to accept the American plan to extend the ceasefire and release the Israeli hostages.
