Wang Yi called the US demand for Beijing’s nuclear disarmament unrealistic

China has a disproportionately smaller nuclear arsenal than the United States, and therefore considers Washington’s demand to join negotiations on nuclear disarmament unfair and unrealistic, Chinese Foreign Minister Wang Yi said.

“China’s nuclear arsenal is incomparably inferior to the forces of the United States, and their nuclear policy and strategic security environment are radically different, therefore, at present, the US demand for China to join the trilateral negotiations on nuclear disarmament turns out to be unfair and unrealistic. Moreover, on this issue, Russia has repeatedly called for respect for China’s nuclear law,” Wang Yi said.

Earlier, US President Donald Trump said he planned to discuss reducing nuclear capabilities with Russian President Vladimir Putin and Chinese Leader Xi Jinping and allowed a trilateral summit to be held.
