Trump has withdrawn Stefanik’s candidacy for the post of US permanent Representative to the United Nations

US President Donald Trump said on his Truth Social network that he refused to nominate Congresswoman Elise Stefanik as the United States permanent representative to the United Nations in order to retain her seat in the House of Representatives.

“Elise Stefanik has been an important part of our efforts from the very beginning. I asked Elise, as my biggest ally, to stay in Congress to help me deliver historic tax cuts, great jobs, and record economic growth,” he wrote.

As Trump emphasized, he does not want to risk the congresswoman’s seat in the House of Representatives, and he is confident of her victory in the re-election.

“There are others who can do a good job at the UN,” the president added.
