Israeli Defense Minister Yisrael Katz has promised that the army will strike Beirut for any shelling of northern Israel from Lebanon.
⠀
«The roofs of the houses in the Dahiya neighborhood of Beirut will shake for every attempt to harm the settlements of Galilee (a region in northern Israel). We promised silence to the people of Galilee, and it will be so. As I said, the law of Kiryat Shmona (a city in northern Israel) equal to the law of Beirut. If there is no silence in Kiryat Shmona and the settlements of the Galilee, then there will be no silence in Beirut,” Katz said in a video message.
⠀
The Israeli Defense Minister appealed to the Lebanese Government to ensure the observance of the ceasefire.
⠀
“If you do not ensure compliance with the ceasefire agreement, we will ensure it,” Katz stressed.

Earlier on Friday, the Israel Defense Forces (IDF) reported an Air Force attack on a warehouse with Hezbollah drones in the southern Beirut suburb of Dahiya. It was the first strike on the Lebanese capital since November 2024, which was carried out in response to the morning launch of shells into northern Israel from Lebanon.
⠀
In February, the IDF completed the withdrawal of troops from southern Lebanon in accordance with the truce agreement that was reached with the Israeli authorities in November 2024 after a year of continuous armed escalation, while the Israeli army remained in five strategic positions in southern Lebanon, explaining the interests of security control.
⠀
The Lebanese leadership, in turn, had to ensure the complete withdrawal of Hezbollah forces north of the Litani River, which flows 20-30 kilometers from the border with Israel in various sections, while Beirut could not officially confirm that this condition of the agreement had been fully fulfilled. In recent weeks, Israel has been conducting targeted operations to eliminate Hezbollah’s remaining capabilities in southern Lebanon.
