The Turkish Security Council at a meeting on Wednesday discussed the situation in Ukraine, called on the conflicting parties to resume the negotiation process.

“The course of the war between Russia and Ukraine and its possible consequences for our region at subsequent stages were discussed in detail, it was stated that the escalation of tension in the Black Sea is not in anyone’s interests. All parties were asked to immediately sit down at the negotiating table and stop the war,” the statement says.

It is reported that the Turkish Security Council also discussed the Black Sea grain initiative. “It was emphasized that a return to the grain agreement will prevent possible negative consequences for countries in need and will contribute to food stability,” the statement said.

Earlier, a source in the administration of Turkish leader Recep Tayyip Erdogan said that the Turkish president, during talks planned in August with his Russian counterpart Vladimir Putin, intends to propose the resumption of peace talks on Ukraine to establish an early ceasefire.
