The number of victims of a terrorist attack at a fair in Germany has risen to six.

The death toll as a result of a terrorist attack at a Christmas market in Magdeburg, Germany, has risen to six.

“A sixth victim has been registered after the terrorist attack in Magdeburg. A 52-year-old woman died from her injuries in hospital,” a representative of the Naumburg prosecutor’s office said.

 

On the evening of December 20, a car drove into a crowd at a Christmas market in Magdeburg. Earlier, the Prime Minister of the federal state of Saxony-Anhalt, Rainer Haseloff, reported that the attack killed five people and injured more than 200. Police believe the hit-and-run was carried out by a 50-year-old Saudi Arabian man who acted alone. According to the Süddeutsche Zeitung newspaper, the suspect was recognized as a refugee in July 2016. He also has a residence permit in Germany.
