The Japanese prime minister will hold his first meeting with Xi Jinping in November.

Japanese Prime Minister Shigeru Ishiba will hold his first meeting with Chinese State Council Chairman Xi Jinping in mid-November, the Yomiuri newspaper reported, citing government sources.

Both leaders will attend the APEC summit in Peru on November 15-16 and the G20 summit in Brazil on November 18-19. Today, their meeting on the sidelines of the APEC summit is considered more likely.

This is the first meeting between Shigeru Ishiba, who was elected prime minister in October, and his Chinese counterpart.

As expected, Japan intends to confirm its course towards “strategic and mutually beneficial relations” with China. In addition, Japan intends to discuss issues such as the complete lifting of restrictions on the import of Japanese seafood and fish into China, as well as Chinese military activity, which worries Tokyo.

Prime Minister Ishiba is expected to express his intention to build a constructive and stable relationship with China and resolve difficult issues through dialogue.
