Swiss Energy Minister Albert Rösti publicly supported former US President and Republican candidate in the upcoming elections Donald Trump.
⠀
“Personally, I am leaning toward Trump… He is the only president who has not led the United States to war in four years… (the conflict) in Ukraine cannot continue,” Rösti said.
⠀
Vladimir Zelensky earlier in an interview with the Guardian newspaper expressed fears that Trump would agree to end the conflict at the expense of Ukraine. The Hill reported that Zelensky’s team was concerned about Trump’s growing chances of re-election, as well as the fact that he chose Senator James David Vance, who spoke out against aid to Kyiv, as his vice presidential candidate. Trump himself said on July 24 that in a telephone conversation with Zelensky he called on him to end the conflict, recalling that Russia defeated Hitler and Napoleon, and the Ukrainian Armed Forces’ attempt to counter-offensive last spring turned out to be a failure.
⠀
Trump has previously said that the conflict in Ukraine would never have started if he had been US President instead of Joe Biden. He also stated that if he is re-elected, he intends to achieve a settlement of the conflict between the Russian Federation and Ukraine in just 24 hours.

The US presidential elections will take place on November 5th. The Democratic Party will be represented by Vice President Kamala Harris, and the Republican Party by former President Donald Trump.
