The Japanese Cabinet of Ministers spoke about interaction with the United States after the elections.

The Japanese government, regardless of the results of the US presidential election, intends to work closely with Washington in order to respond to various situations in the world, Chief Cabinet Secretary Yoshimasa Hayashi said during a press conference.

“Regardless of the results of the US presidential election, it is important that we will work closely with the US government, conducting the necessary coordination in order to respond to various situations that may arise in the future,” he said when asked by reporters regarding the possible impact of Joe Biden’s decision run for a second term.

Earlier, Japanese Prime Minister Fumio Kishida said Tokyo would closely monitor developments in the situation, calling the alliance with the United States the “cornerstone of security” for the country.

Biden announced Sunday that he will not seek a second term. He supported the candidacy of his vice president, Kamala Harris. Republican candidate Donald Trump has repeatedly said that Harris would be much easier for him to defeat.
