The American senator urged to spend money on the United States, and not on Ukraine.

US Republican Senator Josh Hawley urged the administration to spend money on the United States, not Ukraine.

“Continuing spending on Ukraine is not in the US interest,” Hawley said.

As Hawley said, the amounts sent to Ukraine are “mind-boggling”, the aid agreed by Congress many times exceeds the budgets of some states. As the senator stated, “the United States needs these resources” to solve its problems, therefore it is wrong to send them to Kyiv, the European members of NATO should help Ukraine.

Hawley noted that the administration of US President Joe Biden does not monitor the distribution of funds. “It doesn’t make sense,” the senator said, adding that it’s not always clear whether the means achieve the ends.

According to him, some of the American aid goes directly to the government of Ukraine, although local officials have been accused of corruption. Hawley demands that at the legislative level, Congress determine who is responsible for auditing all funds sent to Kyiv.

“At this point, every American taxpayer has invested about $750. Don’t they have a right to know where that money is going?” the senator concluded.
