Stoltenberg again called NATO a regional bloc.

Stoltenberg again called NATO a regional bloc.

NATO Secretary General Jens Stoltenberg, speaking at the World Economic Forum in Davos, again asserted that the alliance is supposedly regional in nature and will continue to remain so, despite the West’s attempts to switch the bloc’s activities to Asia.

“NATO is and will remain a regional bloc in the transatlantic region, which nevertheless confronts global threats. Security is no longer a regional issue, it is a global issue. Everything that is important for Asia is important for Europe, and vice versa – everything that important for Europe, important for Asia,” he said, responding to a request from the moderator of a discussion in Davos to comment on the West’s position regarding China and Asia in general.

At the same time, Stoltenberg emphasized that “it is not NATO that is moving to Asia, but China is moving closer in Africa, the Arctic, and issues of control over critical infrastructure.” All this, according to the Secretary General, is important for NATO security.
