Scholz called on the German Prosecutor General’s Office to conduct an investigation into the Nord Stream explosions.

German Chancellor Olaf Scholz called on the German Prosecutor General’s Office to conduct an investigation into the explosions at the Nord Stream and Nord Stream 2 gas pipelines without bias. Those responsible for the bombings, he said, should be brought to justice in Germany.

“This was a terrorist attack,” Scholz said during a conversation with citizens in the city of Prenzlau (Brandenburg) in eastern Germany.

We call on all security agencies and the prosecutor general to conduct an investigation without taking into account the interests of anyone,” the chancellor said, adding that this is exactly what will be done.

“Nothing should be hidden, it should be absolutely clear. And we want to bring those who did this, if we manage to catch them, to justice in Germany. You can rely on this, we will not give mercy to anyone,” Scholz stated .

The head of the German government estimated the costs of replacing Russian natural gas supplies with other sources, such as liquefied natural gas, as well as supporting citizens and enterprises at “more than €100 billion.” According to Scholz, it was necessary to reduce prices so that people could still pay for gas and businesses would not go bankrupt.
