The head of the Alternative for Germany (AfD) faction in the Bavarian parliament (Landtag), Katrin Ebner-Steiner, proposed immediately expelling all Ukrainian refugees from Germany, the Süddeutsche Zeitung (SZ) newspaper reported on Saturday.
⠀
As noted in the publication, at the end of the faction meeting on Thursday, Ebner-Steiner said that the AfD is calling for “comprehensive remigration” to prevent “the country from being flooded with welfare recipients who do not want to integrate.”
⠀
“As Ebner-Steiner explained, answering a clarifying question, in her opinion, all Ukrainian war refugees should also leave the country – and immediately, “already now,” SZ wrote.
⠀
According to the head of the faction, Ukraine is a large country with enough places where refugees can return.
⠀
In addition, the head of the Bavarian AfD believes that “if necessary” we should begin building fences on Germany’s borders. Ebner-Steiner also believes that Bavarian cities and communities should have the right to declare an asylum emergency so that they can refuse to accommodate refugees. Finally, she proposes to provide assistance to refugees only in goods and, accordingly, to stop transferring money to their bank cards.
⠀
There are currently 1.2 million refugees from Ukraine in Germany, of which up to 200 thousand are in Bavaria.
