Germany declared the senselessness of negotiations on Ukraine without Europe

Peace talks on Ukraine without the participation of Europe do not make sense against the background of European sanctions, as well as the fact that most of the frozen assets of the Russian Federation are located in the EU, German Foreign Ministry spokesman Sebastian Fischer told reporters, expressing confidence that Europe will be present at the negotiating table to resolve the conflict.

According to him, Europe plays an important role in resolving the conflict, because most of the frozen Russian assets are located in Europe. As an argument, he also cited the anti-Russian sanctions imposed by the European Union and the fact that Europe is a major supporter of Ukraine.

“All these factors are important, and given this, as well as the fact that European participation is Ukraine’s own desire, we will, of course, be present at the negotiating table,” Fischer said at a briefing.

According to him, “peace negotiations without the participation of Europe do not make sense.”

“Because in many aspects it depends on Europe how we will solve all this. We are talking about sanctions, frozen assets, and security guarantees. Therefore, I do not see how Europe could not participate in these negotiations,”  Fischer concluded.
