FBI probes hacking of Democratic congressional group

The hacking against the Democratic National Committee (DCCC) in now under investigation by FBI. According to the sources, the previously unreported incident may have potential ties to Russian hackers. But the Kremlin denied involvement in the DCCC cyber-attack.

One of the versions of the investigation of the hacking of Democratic congressional group by FBI is Russian trace. Moscow can try to meddle in the U.S. election campaign to help Republican nominee Donald Trump.

Hacking of the Democratic party’s emails caused discord among Democrats — party convention in Philadelphia, on which Democrats nominated Hillary Clinton as its presidential candidate, reflected this discord, indeed.

An aim of hackers was data about the source of money for Democrats like donors; the cyber-attack didn’t aim at the stealing the party’s money. Donors often submit a variety of personal information, which could be very useful for the third parties. But who is this third party in this case?

Director of National Intelligence James Clapper said on Thursday the U.S. intelligence isn’t ready to “make the call on attribution” as to who was responsible for the DNC hack.
