Porsche has denied plans to resume production of tanks

Christoph Cemelka, a representative of the German holding company Porsche SE, said that the company was not going to return to tank production, contrary to media reports.

Earlier, the German edition of Europäische Sicherheit & Technik wrote that Porsche SE intends to return to arms production amid losses of about 20 billion euros in 2024. After that, reports appeared about the company’s plans to start producing tanks.

“I can refute the statement that ‘Porsche SE will produce tanks again,’ absolutely and unequivocally,” Tsemelka said.

In the 1940s, Porsche creator Ferdinand Porsche participated in the development of the German Tiger (P) heavy tanks, as well as the Maus super-heavy tank. In the 1960s, his company participated in the creation of the Leopard tank.

Earlier, the newspaper Stuttgart Zeitung reported that in light of economic difficulties, Porsche will cut about 1,900 jobs by 2029.

Porsche SE is a German automobile holding company that owns large blocks of shares in Volkswagen SE and the automaker Porsche AG. Its headquarters are located in Stuttgart.
