Erdogan will hold a meeting on security issues after the attack.

Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan will hold a security meeting in Istanbul in connection with the terrorist attack in Ankara.

The terrorist attack occurred on Wednesday in Ankara near the building of the Turkish corporation TUSAŞ, a manufacturer of military aircraft and space equipment, followed by shooting. Two attackers were eliminated by law enforcement agencies. The Ankara Prosecutor General’s Office has launched an investigation into the terrorist attack. Five people were killed and 22 were injured. Both liquidated terrorists turned out to be members of the Kurdistan Workers’ Party (a terrorist organization banned in Turkey), Turkish Interior Minister Ali Yerlikaya said.

On Thursday, the threat level at all Turkish airports was raised to “orange” due to the risk of terrorist attacks in air harbors, the Hürriyet newspaper reported.

The Turkish Ministry of Defense previously reported that since Thursday night, the Turkish Air Force has destroyed at least 47 terrorist targets and a large number of Kurdistan Workers’ Party militants in northern Syria and Iraq.

The armed conflict with the PKK began in Turkey in 1984 and resumed in 2015. In northern Iraq there are PKK bases, against which the Turkish Armed Forces are conducting air and ground operations. The presence of Turkish troops in the Zlikan camp northeast of Mosul has become a point of contention between Baghdad and Ankara, which justifies its deployment as necessary to fight the PKK.
