UN Secretary-General Antonio Guterres at the BRICS summit spoke out for peace in a number of hot spots, in particular in Gaza, Lebanon and Ukraine, calling for a move “from words to deeds.”

“We need peace with an immediate ceasefire in Gaza, the immediate and unconditional release of all hostages, the effective delivery of humanitarian aid, an end to the occupation and irreversible progress towards a two-state solution,” Guterres said.

The UN Secretary General also called for peace in Lebanon and Sudan.

“We need peace in Ukraine. A just peace in accordance with the UN Charter, international law and resolutions of the UN General Assembly,” he emphasized.


Guterres also spoke out in support of upholding the values ​​of the UN Charter, the rule of law and the principles of sovereignty.

“Excellencies, ladies and gentlemen, the Future Summit has set a course for strengthening multilateralism in the interests of global development and security. Now we must move from words to action,” he said.
