Blinken called for an investigation into possible election irregularities in Georgia.

The head of the US State Department, Antony Blinken, called for an investigation into possible violations in the elections in Georgia.

“We join calls … for a full investigation of all reports of election irregularities,” Blinken said in a statement released by the State Department.

At the same time, as Blinken notes, international and domestic observers acknowledged that the elections in Georgia were generally held in accordance with norms.

The Georgian Central Election Commission completed the counting of votes from all polling stations on Sunday. According to the results of processing the ballots, the ruling Georgian Dream won 53.91% of the votes. Four opposition parties also entered parliament, receiving a total of 37.78%.

Representatives of four opposition parties have already stated that they do not recognize the CEC data. Special Coordinator of the short-term OSCE mission Pascal Alizar noted the good organization of the elections in Georgia, while stating a number of violations recorded by observers.
