Biden will announce a mission to create a port in Gaza, the White House said.

U.S. President Joe Biden will announce a mission in his upcoming State of the Union address to create a port in Gaza that would allow additional humanitarian supplies to pass through, but would not involve deploying U.S. troops in the enclave, a senior administration official said.

Biden will deliver his annual State of the Union address on Thursday evening Washington time (early Friday morning Moscow time), it was announced that he will talk about his “historic achievements” as head of state.

“Tonight the President will announce that he is directing the US military to lead an emergency mission to establish a port in the Mediterranean on the coast of Gaza that can accommodate ships carrying food, water and medicine,” the official said at a briefing.

Moreover, the corresponding mission does not imply the deployment of American troops in the enclave.

The administration representative noted that he does not know when the port will open.
