At last, Barack and Michelle Obama found the perfect place for their home, the family of former American leader has purchased the house they had been renting in Kalorama since January.
Up to date, the Obamas still own a home in Chicago, that house was bought from Joe Lockhart (Bill Clinton’s former press secretary). In 2014, Barack and Michelle purchased their Chicago house for $5.3m, and in 2017, they became the owners of wonderful Washington place for $8.1 million.
Also in the neighbourhood are US First Daughter Ivanka Trump and her husband Jared Kushner, a senior White House adviser. Secretary of State Rex Tillerson is another Kalorama resident – he bought a $5.6m house in February.
Washington warmly welcomes Obamas
The Obamas spent several months travelling the most beautiful corners of the planet since January. Now, they are owners of the nine-bedroom house in the respectable district of the capital. According to the family plans, Obamas will stay in this stone mansion in the upmarket Kalorama until their 15-year-old Sasha finishes high school.
The purchasing of the house was confirmed by Kevin Lewis, Mr Obama’s spokesman:
“Given that President and Mrs Obama will be in Washington for at least another two and a half years, it made sense for them to buy a home rather than continuing to rent the property.”
The family of all the presidents have right to be protected even after leaving the White House. Obama’s new house in Washington has the solid barriers, which are restricting the public access to the home, 24/7 Secret Service protection also included.
