The People’s Liberation Army Air Force (PLAAF) will demonstrate its capabilities to defend national sovereignty at the international aerospace exhibition Airshow China 2024, which will be held in November in Zhuhai city in China’s southern Guangdong province, the deputy commander of the PLA Air Force Yu Qingjian said at a press conference in Beijing on Wednesday.

The fifteenth international aerospace exhibition Airshow China 2024 will be held in Zhuhai city in the southern Chinese province of Guangdong from November 12 to 17.

“We hope to use the airshow as a platform to demonstrate the capabilities and confidence of the Chinese Air Force to resolutely defend national sovereignty, unity and territorial integrity,” Yu Qingjiang said.

He stressed that at the upcoming exhibition the Air Force will increase the number of weapons and equipment on display. In particular, new fighter aircraft developed in recent years will be demonstrated. According to Yu Qingjian, the number and area of booths installed by the Air Force at this year’s exhibition will reach the highest level ever.

Deputy Governor of Guangdong Province Zhang Hu said during a press conference that 890 companies from 47 countries and regions will take part in Airshow China 2024, of which Russia, France, the USA, Saudi Arabia and Italy, will present its pavilion.

He noted that the exhibition area at the exhibition will reach 450 thousand square meters. In addition, at the upcoming exhibition, for the first time in its history, a demonstration area for unmanned aerial vehicles will be opened.

China’s largest aviation exhibition, Airshow China, has been held in Zhuhai every two years since 1996. Its topics include military and civil aircraft, space technology, weapons and military equipment for landing forces, air defense and electronic warfare systems.

China traditionally presents new military, space and civil technology at the exhibition. In 2022, the exhibition was attended by more than 740 companies from 43 countries and regions, the Chinese army then presented the Attack-2 unmanned aerial vehicle, H-6K bomber and HQ-9B anti-aircraft missiles, and J-20 fighter jets and YU-20 tanker aircraft took part in a demonstration flight as part of the air show.
