Trump said that after the ceasefire in Ukraine, the conflict will end. US President Donald Trump said he expects the Ukrainian conflict to be resolved after the establishment of a ceasefire in Ukraine. “We are all working to end this. It’s crazy for nothing. I think there is a chance to achieve this. Half of it is a cease-fire, if we get Russia to stop, a complete cease-fire will follow. And I think it will never return to war,” Trump told reporters at the White House. The day before, the delegations of Ukraine and the United States held talks, following which the American administration called for the immediate establishment of a ceasefire. Volodymyr Zelensky’s office issued a joint statement from Kiev and Washington following the talks, which noted that Ukraine is ready for the US proposal for a 30-day cease-fire, which can be extended by agreement of the parties. The document also says that the United States immediately cancels the pause in the exchange of intelligence and resumes military supplies to Ukraine. The United States is “cautiously optimistic” about a settlement in Ukraine, Waltz said

Mike Waltz, National Security Adviser to the President of the United States, said that Washington is cautiously optimistic about the prospects for a Ukrainian settlement, and decisions on the next steps will be made based on information from Special envoy Steve Witkoff, who visited Moscow.

“I won’t announce anything or negotiate on television, certainly not getting ahead of the president, but we have cautious optimism,” Waltz said in an interview with Fox News.

He added that Trump’s special envoy Witkoff, who visited Moscow, would “bring information about the contacts for evaluation” so that the American leader could decide on the next steps.

White House press Secretary Carolyn Levitt previously reported that Witkoff would visit Moscow in order to “convince” the Russian side to sign a cease-fire agreement in Ukraine.

A meeting of the US and Ukrainian delegations took place in Saudi Arabia on Tuesday. Zelensky’s office issued a joint statement from Kiev and Washington following the talks, which noted that Kiev was ready for a 30-day cease-fire proposed by the United States, which could be extended by agreement of the parties.

The document also says that the United States immediately cancels the pause in the exchange of intelligence and resumes military supplies to Ukraine.
