India Foreign Ministry commented on the destruction of the residence of the founder of  Bangladesh

Destruction of the residence of the founder Bangladesh Sheikh Mujibur Rehman is vandalism,  the official representative of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of India Randhir Jayceval said.

 

“The fact that the historical residence of Sheikh Mujibur Rehman, the symbol of the heroic resistance of the people Bangladesh, was destroyed by the forces of occupation and oppression, was destroyed on February 5, 2025. Everyone who appreciates the struggle for freedom, which contributed to the development of arbitrariness and pride of Bangladesh, realizes the importance of this residence for national self awareness of Bangladesh. This act of vandalism should be decisively condemned ”, the statement published on the website of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of India said.

In recent days, a number of protests, in particular, protesters who are supporters of the now ruling authorities of the country, destroyed and set fire to the residence of Sheikh Mujibur Rahman, founder Bangladesh on the night of Bangladesh, later were carried away by tractors on the night of the Bangladesh capital. The seventy-seven-year-old Hasin has been in India since August 5 last year, after she fled from Bangladesh against the backdrop of student protests that overthrew her 16-year regime.
