New US Secretary of State Marco Rubio called for “making Gaza beautiful again” in connection with statements by US President Donald Trump about the readiness of the United States to “take control” of the Gaza Strip.

Trump said that the United States would “take control” of the Gaza Strip and be responsible for reconstruction work in the region, as well as turn it into a “Middle Eastern riviera” for the whole world. At the same time, he called the current Gaza Strip a “demolition site” and said that its residents should leave for other countries forever, offering Jordan or Egypt for their residence. He also did not rule out that the United States could send its army to Gaza, and promised that he would visit it personally.

“Gaza must be free from (the Palestinian movement) Hamas. As the president stated today, the United States is ready to take the lead and Make Gaza Beautiful Again,” Rubio wrote on his page on the social network X.

Thus, Rubio made a reference to the famous slogan of the elected Trump “Make America great again” (“Make America great again“).
